ใน ค.ศ. 1948 เขาย้ายไปยังประเทศออสเตรเลียเพื่อทำงานเป็นรองศาสตราจารย์ด้านพฤกษศาสตร์ ณ มหาวิทยาลัยเมลเบิร์น กูดดอลล์ได้กลายเป็นศตวรรษิกชนเมื่อเดือนเมษายน ค.ศ. 2014[5]
